Over Christmas break, I planned a quick getaway over to Tofino a few hours out of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. We took the ferry ride over (my mom and I), and on the drive up we stopped at a hiking trail called Little Qualicum Falls. Upon first arrival it didn’t look like much more than forest trails that led down to a stream. But less than a 10 minute walk, were beautiful waterfalls and bridges that stretched from one side to another.
Tofino was the perfect destination for a staycation. It’s crazy that a two hour ferry ride and a 3 hour drive can take you to a place that feels so far away from home. The beaches were incredible – with ocean views that extended past the horizon and waves that you could watch all day. Town has such a laid back feel that’s such a wonderful change from the fast paced downtown Vancouver that I’m used to.
